Nem5 Web Maggic Awards Program General Criteria
58. appropriate domain
Having an appropriate, easy-to-remember top-level domain name that will
help visitors understand what to expect on the site simply by reading
the name will earn this point.
59. on/off buttons
Sites should have on/off buttons for music, flash or other programming
used on the site. If the site has no programming, music or flash
that requires an off button, it will score this point. If the
programming, music or flash slows, causes lag or crashes the browser
or computer the site will be disqualified. (See points number
16, 20 and 21.)
60. tables done well
Tables should be used in a manner that makes the overall appearance
of the site as pleasant as possible. Everything on a page should
not be centered. The page should not load to the left with a large
white (empty) space to the right of the screen.
61. looks well in all resolutions
The site should look good to all Nem5 Judges reviewing the site
no matter the resolution they use to do the review. The most popular
resolutions used among Nem5 Judges are 1024x768 and 800x600. Sites
that have a left/right scrollbar in 640x480 with no other problems
at that resolution, but work well at different higher resolutions
will get this point. Sites should not have a left/right scrollbar
at 800x600 or higher. Pages should not stack to the left or right
side. Page layouts should adjust to the resolution of the user.
62. interesting
The site should be of interest to its intended audience in the opinion of the Judges reviewing
the site.
63. guestbook/reviews
Customer comments, client reviews and references posted on the
site are a nice addition and help new users feel more secure when
visiting.
64. works in all browsers
Your website should look good and work properly in all browsers
that may be used to review your site. The most popular browsers
used among Nem5 Judges are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari
and Netscape, but other browsers may be used to review your site.
If a script or tag is used that is not visible in a browser, you
will get this point as long as the script or tag does not crash
the browser and the pages are still pleasant to view and contain
no error messages. It is not necessary for the site to look or
work the same in all browsers, only that it look good and work
well in all browsers.
65. text only/alternate index
If your site requires fast connections or state of the art equipment
that may only be available to users on newer browsers or systems,
alternative versions of the site index (full site menu) should
be made readily accessible. If you have an HTML only version your
site could offer a text only version of your index.
66. proper page division
Pages should be divided properly so that there is not too much white
(empty) space or be too crowded. Different portions of a page with separate
functions and/or purposes should be easy to identify.
67. complete contact info
All commercial and business sites, including not-for-profit business
sites, should list complete contact information, including: 1)
business name; 2) contact person's name; 3) physical address;
4) mailing address, if different; 5) phone number; 6) extension
number, if applicable; and 7) fax number, if applicable. HomeSites
should not list physical address or phone number if children live
in the home. (Also see criteria point 4.)
68. personal copyright note
All pages should have proper copyright notation showing that your
work is protected. Proper copyright notation will show the following:
1) the symbol © (the letter C in a circle), or the word "Copyright,"
or the abbreviation "Copr."; 2) the year of first publication
of the work; and 3) the name of the owner of copyright in the
work, or an abbreviation by which the name can be recognized,
or a generally known alternative designation of the owner. (Also
see points 2, 3 and 10.)
69. established site
Sites that have been online more than 6 months will gain this
point. Please use the Upgrades & Site Age block on the Application
Form to let us know the start date of your site.
