Please, be patient. This page is graphic intense.

The screenshot from the page above was done using photographs
I took myself of my daughter. On this page I will show how I made
those photographs into something quite different from their original
format. I started with these two photos (below) taken August 10,
1997 in the mountains just outside Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Step 1
Many new graphic editors have options to do what these tutorials
show you a lot quicker and easier. If your image editor does
not have plugins, filters or other options that allow you
to do these things, then here's a way to do it manually. |
Step 2
I started with Image 1 for the background. I cropped out the
bottom and kept the leafy portion at the top.
Dimensions: 130x44 |
 |
Step 3
I took this cropped portion, duplicated it 3 times and manipulated
the directional positioning of each section. These sections
were fitted together and placed on a blank canvas. The color
of the blank canvas does not really matter. |
 |
| Dimensions: 260x88 (130x2 -- 44x2) |
|
Step 4
I accented the edges of the image. This graphical rendering
looks very little like the original, yet it is the same
picture shown in Step 2.
|
 |
|
Step 5
I made the image opaque and placed it over a white blank
canvas. Other colors could be used for this and the image
would appear brighter.
|
 |
|
Step 6
I resized the image to 100x38. This is the image I used
for the background. It is now a seamless background that
looks a lot like real wallpaper.
